The library facilities house a reading room and a library hall. The reading room has a self-service desk for searching information on the web and locating material, a comfortable reading corner and a collection of periodicals.
Groups are also welcome to visit the library. It is good to make an appointment for a group visit in advance.
See customer service availability hours at Contact information -page The librarian assists customers in questions concerning information search, such as searching in the Kevali collection, and the shelf location of material. Instructions have been compiled on the “Instructions for information search” page both for searches in the Kevali collection and for locating material on the shelves.

The library loans out publications both locally and as distant loans to persons who reside in Finland. The loan period is 4 weeks for books, 2 weeks for some of the new arrivals. For audio/visual recordings (videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs) the loan period is 2 weeks. The material in the library’s reference collection and the reference library of the Communication and Technology Centre Tikoteekki can be taken out for weekend loans upon separate agreement.
We provide our customers with User IDs and PIN codes. With them you can renew loans on the Internet and reserve material.
We do not loan out periodicals but customers can photocopy articles from them. The self-service price of a photocopy is 0,30 e/exposure. Annual orders from the years 2001-2007 are located in the reading room and the library hall, the older ones are in storage. If you need an article from a publication in storage, please notify us in advance by e-mail, kirjasto(at)kvl.fi.
