One of the tasks of FAIDD is to produce and disseminate new information on intellectual disabilities and on the lives, services and needs of people with disabilities and the people they interact with daily.

The Communications unit edits material and maintains the Verneri web service on intellectual and developmental disabilities. Verneri is a national web service including both standard and plain language information, with the main objectives of compiling the information dispersed in various sources and providing a channel of discussion for all people interested in the field. The general goal is to support the continuation of special knowledge and skills on intellectual disabilities.

Verneri’s target groups are people with intellectual disabilities, their families and close ones, professionals and students, and families expecting a child.

Verneri web service (www.verneri.net), only available in Finnish

The Communications unit publishes the Ketju Magazine which tells in an interesting and down-to-earth way of the lives of people with intellectual disabilities, their families, friends and carers.

Additionally, the unit puts out press releases concerning timely topics in order to keep the media up to date on issues on intellectual disability.
